During the day the wildlife hides for the tourists. But when the tourists leave, the animals comes out. Guido Sterkendries lived 11 days in the middle of this Parc. After a few days he became part of the wildlife.

Professor Franco Tassi is the true master of this beautifull parc in the middle of Italy. This means as long we don't talk about the animals, the wildlife of the National Parc of Abruzzen have their own rules and no human being will change this ...
The history of the parc goes back to a few years after the First World War, when a small group of nature enthousiasts wanted to preserve the fauna and flora in this area. In 1922 their dream became reality, the government accepted the plane to start a National Parc with a surface of 18.000 hectares. After 78 years, after a heroic battle with economic interests, the area expanded to 44.000 hectares with a decent buffer-zone around it.
Nowadays a large group of animals, that once had a large part of Italy as their territory, can only be found in this parc.
When visiting this parc we should remember the small group of people that, just after the First World War, had the dream to create this parc.
